A Rude Intrusion :: Day 62

This is my blog for day 62 of cancer treatment and recovery, Sunday, 10 Sep 2017.

No doctor's appointments today!

Kerry and Luke came over to see Amy and the grandkids. The two girls went shopping while the kids were asleep, then returned home before they awoke. Luke and I watched the Bear game - they played well enough, but still lost - and then all of us got into three different cars to go see the Landwehr Farm.

Ron was out with his dad, but Edie, Abby and - after a short while, Emily - were all there. We spent a good 2 1/2 hours talking, laughing, snacking and generally having a wonderful time. Ron and Edie have fixed the place up quite well. There's an expansive patio, a water feature, a very large screen porch, the barn, the fields . . . lots and lots of things to see. As usual, Edie was a most welcoming hostess. We had a splendid time!

Watched the end of the Green Bay Packer game - they looked good. I sent a congratulatory message to Matt (Amy's husband) and his dad. Looks like a Green Bay-Detroit-Minnesota race for the Bear's division this year.

I ate cheese today! I had some Sharp Cheddar, some Swiss and some Colby-Jack. Boy, did it taste good! I tried eating some soup again, but that didn't work well when it came to the noodles, the carrots and the chicken. So I ate the broth . . . it's something. Then I tried a Lime yogurt, and ate about half, but it was missing that sweet finish it was supposed to have. Same with ice cream yesterday - it tastes right, but doesn't have that "sweet" it should. So I guess I have to say that I've lost - at least temporarily - my ability to taste "sweet". I haven't tried a cookie; perhaps I will tonight with a single "white Oreo" and a glass of milk.

I'm running out of musical ideas, I have to admit. I've highlighted Christian, old Jazz, old Broadway/Standards, instrumentals, waltzes, polkas, 70's memories, songs made famous by the recently deceased, rock and roll, hard rock, marches . . . you name it. Going to have to dig deep or "punt" - let's see which it will be.

Here's one: Cold, Cold Heart by The Quebe Sisters - Link. Ran into this group when watching Asleep At The Wheel. They are a trio of Texas fiddle-playin' singers whose harmonies are spot on. They play Texas swing, a'la Bob Wills (and Asleep At The Wheel).

Here's another: Popular, as sung by the original Galinda from Wicked, Kristin Chenoweth - Link. Okay, I've featured Kristin before, but she's so featurable, so why not? I haven't featured anything from Wicked, yet, I don't think.

OK, here's the last: Brotherhood of Man, from How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying with Matthew Broderick and Lillias White - Link.
