A Rude Intrusion :: Day 14

This is my blog for day 14 of cancer treatment, Sunday, 23 Jul 2017.

Slept well last night. Have been a little more tired lately, falling asleep in the morning and the afternoon for little cat naps. I guess my body will tell me if it needs rest, and I guess it does.

Watched the amazing Jordan Spieth win the British Open today. Personally, I thought he might be done after going bogey-bogey-bogey the first three holes, then struggling after that. But after making a great save for bogey on 13, he went birdie-eagle-birdie-birdie on holes 14-17 to get back to -11, and the championship was his. And he's not even 24 years old yet!

Weighed in at 262.2 this morning, Up from my low of 257, I think, though I'm not sure I recorded it. I know that I was 264.1 when I started, so i have been able to put on weight.

The water situation is stable. Pumps are running, though running a lot, but the basement is dry, so far. We did have thunderstorms roll through this afternoon, but they didn't actually come with much rain. And it's not supposed to rain again until Thursday, so the water levels should begin to really go down.

Nancy's sister Linda, cousin Leroy, his wife Jeri and her mom Sonja came over for dinner this afternoon. As usual, there was enough laughter to go around. Stories were swapped. Tales were told. Jokes were made. Leroy and Jeri left at about 8:00 PM, perfect on a night when I don't have to go to work tomorrow. First day of short-term disability!

Got a chance to read the Sunday Tribune today for the first time in a number of weeks (though I have the back-issues). I think I'll try to work through the crossword puzzle tomorrow morning.

Cubs are on right now, leading 5-3 through the seventh inning. They have three games in hand versus division-leading Milwaukee, and are just a half-game back. I'm betting they make the playoffs this year, but don't go too deep. We'll see what happens a little later in the year to know for sure.

So it was a kinda lazy day today . . . I don't have much more to say!

And from YouTube, today: the late George Duke, with a medley of Frank Zappa tunes (here). Who you jivin' with that Cosmik Debris? Enjoy!
