
The music of Allan Sherman - another part of my childhood that I remember fondly - is still available. You should find it in your local library, or have it sent in by inter-library loan - but listen to it. He's a tragi-comic figure who wrote witty rhymes to then-current popular and classical music and parlayed that talent into a career. One that subsequently destroyed his marriage and family life, unfortunately, but one that also brightened my youth. (Here's a
