A Rude Intrusion :: Day 83

This is my blog for day 83 of cancer treatment and recovery, Sunday, 1 Oct 2017.

No doctor appointments until Tuesday.

Decided to clean out the shed today, in preparation for replacing it with one from Suncast, already purchased and sitting in the garage. I was scheduled to complete the clean-up this week in order to demolish it next weekend. So out I went, taking out a whole bunch of different things and lining them up against the fence. Until I moved the bag of peat moss. Then the wasps came out in force. I guess they had made a home in the bag - I haven't gone back out to take a closer look. But they swarmed, and one got me on the neck. Then, as I got onto the deck, another one got into my shirt, then stung me on the stomach. Once inside, still another one got me on the back.

After calling them a bunch of unflattering things, I went to Walgreen's to get something to take out the sting (a roll-on product by Benadryl seems to work well). But when it came time to pay for it, I reached into my pocket and yet another wasp was in my pocket and stung me on the hand! I was pretty unhappy at that point. I mean, I didn't want to disturb their home. But now I want to nuke it and destroy them all! Think Calvin acting like a marauding Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Further, I vacuumed up two more of them in the house. And they're still flying around all over outside. Crap! Time to call Orkin . . .

The rest of Sunday was a restful Sunday. Nancy made meatloaf, mashed potatoes, fresh broccoli and fresh cauliflower. I had not had the latter two for some time, and they were goood! Eating is still sometimes difficult, but is getting better.

Aunt Yolie called from San Antonio last night, too. She and Nancy spoke for the better part of an hour. Nanc is interested in how her physicians are treating her (Aunt Yolie's) tremors. It seems that she's having some pretty critical issues with trembling, perhaps caused by a shot she received. Nancy is trying to sort that out remotely, between talking to Yolie and Harv.

Before they were done Kerry called, laughing at her poor dog Bailey, for whom she bought a lion costume to ear for Halloween. Bailey was not amused, but Kerry sure was! Poor Bailey . . . Kerry used to laugh at the pugs in their Halloween costumes, too. Sally was a banana split. Lucy was a hot dog and I think Rocky was a bee. All of the kids who came to the house loved seeing the dogs and having their pictures taken with them. Ah, the good old days!
