A Rude Intrusion :: Day 24

This is my blog for day 24 of cancer treatment, Wednesday, 2 Aug 2017.

Special Announcement: Today is radiation treatment 18 of 35 - I am over 50% done! My last radiation treatment is Friday, 25 Aug 2017. And I have now had two of three chemotherapy treatments. The last will come the week of 21 Aug 2017, the last week of any treatments at all,

This blog posting is late because I had a really "down day", sleeping for much of the day and being generally listless from the prior day's chemo treatment. I had to go to the oncologist's office for fluids (a scheduled visit) at noon, then we went over to Northwest Community for radiation. Once back home, I was wiped out! I went to bed at 9:00 PM, and that was that.

Today's music is a piece we've done in church, Blessings by Laura Story. It can be found on YouTube, here. With what I'm going through, it strikes  chord. Here are the lyrics:

Blessings

We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things

'Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt your goodness, we doubt your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe

When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know that pain reminds this heart
That this is not our home

What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can't satisfy
What if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are your mercies in disguise
